bro avishay, what is the dimension of ur floating basket?
is that alright when there are no cover for the basket?
hmm... just wondering if no cover, maybe the pup will swim out from the nursing basket?

The dimensions are 1 foot x about 6''. I am not sure if that is big enough - I hope it will be good for the first week at least.
There is no special cover to the basket, though I do conrtol how much it would float above the water surface, by the thickness of the foam I use to make the basket float. The pup's would need to jump in order to run away....

I do use a cover for the entire aquarium - and it is covering the basket as well.

So, everything is yet in theory, I would need to use it and only after could say it is a recommended way. I still cross my finger the bearth will be OK - and that I will catch the pup's on time to save them from being eaten.

Thanks,
Avishay

that is a cool nursery.

She looks like she is atleast 70 days??

I have been lucky enough to watch mine give birth twice. It usually happens in the evening to late night. I also knew when it was comming becasue the male would be biting her and chasing her. he even ripped off chucks of her "feet". THis usually happens for me the night the birth is happening.

if you watch my male jerking the female around, this is what mine does before she gives birth.

Very, very nice video. You are lucky to have seen that. I wish the birth will take place at evening (much higher chance for me to see it).

The male is chasing her all time long (maybe not as aggresively as in the video though).

For some reason it seems the female is breathing more heavily (faster than normal), I could not tell whether it is because she's been chased by the male or whether it is because she's breathing for herself and the pup's. Would love to hear if that was noticeable by others.

Thanks,
Avishay
