Forget the dorado, the catfish will inhale the poor ray. Rays are too slow to out run a catfish.

Yes motoro is good starter ray, make sure your tank is cycled before adding any rays.

Not the catfish I'll be putting in the 220. It's mouth is to small.

dorado will be a snack at that size... i had a 8" male eat a 7" atf...

I can grow the dorardo out to as big as I can get it in a 125. so I can do 10"+ easy before I add it to the 220.

Would it still not work then? I have heard nothing bu dorardo never stop swimming so I don't see how it would get caught napping on the bottom?

I just had a 6 inch Dorado pinned down and mauled by a 7 inch ray. But yet fine with a 6 inch ray. I think it varies heavily ray to ray but it seems WCs tend to be more predatory.

Fine scaled Characins need to be AT LEAST a few inches longer than the ray is wide before I'd even consider it.

Get the Dorado to growout and as long as it's a good size bigger than the rays there shouldn't be any troubles. I think even IF the Dorado was the same size as the ray, the ray still has a good chance at pinning it. IF it's fine scaled (like a Dorado or Hydro) it may not ever get back up.

bigger the dorado the better its chances.... dont ever underestimate the speed and power of a stingray...

I am not sure yet if I'll be looking at WC or CB rays. I'm only interested in pattern. so I'll have to cross that bridge later but I'll look for CB and see if that helps.

I can keep the dorardo in growout as long as needed. I can keep him in there till he outgrows the 125 and that should be no less the 14" The GATF won't even be thought of putting in the 220 till he's close to 10-12" and at that point I might just sell off what stock is in the 220 and let the GATF have it to himself.

That's what I'm begining to think. I'll be working on the 220 tomorrow if things work out. and I should ahve some pics in the photo lounge if I get anything done.

I just traded him back to his original owner for a 6" dorado that was giving him problems sorry. and I'm looking to get marbles most likely
