Hi, im going to be purchasing a motoro sting ray very soon. it will just be born when i receive it. it might have like a 4" disc. i will have it in a 35 gal with a width of 13". I know its small but i dont want to put a huge tank on the second floor of a 100 year old home. i need to know of the diseases and how to take care of them. i will also have a 5" pleco in the tank. he is aggressive when feeding. i previously had an ornate bichir, and a spotted gar that died after 1 month of receiving. they lost their slime coat. i put pima fix in but it did nothing. i do frequent water changes so the water is very fresh. I heard that you can build a relationship with a motoro ray. idk if that true but that is cool. also, when selecting my ray, what should i pick? male/female? wider? longer? more spots? oddball looking in size and color? i'm not planning on selling the ray so idc about money worth. what would be best for my tank? what temp should i keep my tank at? i will be installing white sand so it keeps it stress free. if i catch an 18" wide 40 gal breeder tank on sale, i will go after it. how long could i keep my ray till i maybe upgrade? i dont want negative answers i know im stunting the fish but idc if he gets big.

Even a motoro that small will produce to much waste for a 40, typically a tank will good enough dimensions for motoro will hold 300+ gallons, I highly recomend you do research first. Plecos also suck the slime coat off fish like gars, bichirs, and rays. P.S. This sounds like a troll

Stunting and not accepting proper information should not be choices.

you asked for no negative or bad responses and you only got those LOL. i hear you build good relationships with dogs and cats also. lets just hope your house dont fall apart if you get a bigger tank

Why not get a tankof the right size and put it on the ground floor... Wow solved that problem with ease.

Better yet if you thought you would get good responces why don't you get a single beta for the tank... Those are easy to care for and perfect if idiots insist on slowly killing animals, because they are too lazy or stupid to do a bit of research.

yeah i live on second floor of a double. i can't put up a 100 gal. i put my gar and bichir in my 35 gal and they were very happy. they werent stressed, the gar would even hand feed. he was like 9" too. i want a motoro ray pup. what happens if i put him in a 35 gal? i take good care of my fish. why do i need a huge tank? if he fits and has room to swim, then i'm good to go. the chill at they bottom most of the time so how is it bad to put it in a 35? they are slow growers too.

Let me guess, your Gar and Bicher lived to be a good 2yrs old and were happy right? The fact that you have asked for good information, been informed, and refuse to listen just shows you have gone from ignorant to just plain neglectful. At it's widest is a 35g would be around 12" wide, when a Ray will get over 18". How would you like to be shoved in a room to live that was 2'L x 2'W x 4'T room? I am sure we could hand feed you aswell, but that wouldn't mean you were happy. Also, Rays have a steady growth rate. Even a pup only 2 months old would be outgrowing your tank. If you can't properly house it, don't get it. And the tank would need to be atleast a 180g. Honestly I hope their illegal in your state. That would help you resist the urge.
