Very laid back fish, think it may work with a 240 gal tank? He got along flawless with my Florida Gar so he is very laid back. Think it's worth a shot? The guy that's ordering these is paying 25-30 each. IMO it's to good a deal.

I wouldn't try it only because it would only take one time of the wolf and the ray to go for the same piece of food and a huge amount of damage could be done.

Plus they both would spend most their time on the bottom

But people have had stranger combos work I am just not very brave :)

I wouldn't do it. Your wolf may have gotten along well with the gar who spent most of his time swimming around in the middle to top of tank, but a ray who will be on the bottom just like the wolf, and going for the same food as the wolf would be in much greater danger.

This is all true. The Gar was kind of sickly guess as he died shortly. I won't risk it now that I see what other people are saying. Is 25 for the ray to good of a deal?

MY Big Malabaricus does not mess with my Gar or my WAL, he has even been take mates with a LOT of other fish and never bothered them, just keep him well fed and give him a hiding cave or two.

Also my wolf only hits food that's moving, it has to look alive. The second food hits the bottom and he realizes its not alive he loses complete interest. So I don't think fighting over food will be a problem, but you never know!

Well mine is eating chicken and shrimp, so dead... Let me know how it goes Thursday. I don't want any harm to come to my wolf. He is liveing with a hack demp, and does chaise him a lot. I'm hopping my pictus, silver tip, and Id shark get large enough to not be a meal. There in a grow out tank right now.

Last question. Is sand in an acrylic tank a bad idea? I have 40lb in my 120 and would like to add it to my 8th 240. I'm sure the ray will like it but what about mr wolf?

my lfs has a wolf with 3 rays for nearly a year now - no casualties - also in the tank was a gulper cat some discus and a few small geo's.....

I have sand in my acrylic with the wolf, he doesn't seem to mind, I could probably do razorblades as a substrate and it wouldn't bother him.
