Motoro Stingray + wolf fish (mal something)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ratflmao that's one calm wolf. I may try it. I'm THINKING my wolf, stingray, silver aro, Florida Gar, and IF my fish get big enough some day, my pictus, silvertip, id shark. What does your wolf like to hide in? How deep of sand do I need.

He doesn't hide at all haha, keep in mind hes almost 16 inches long though. I have provided him with lots of driftwood to hide amongst but he prefers center stage. Sometimes he sits at the back end of the tank and keeps a low profile.

For amount of sand? I'd be happy with 2 inches max, my next move before the ray comes is to take some sand out, as the larger fish have piled it all over the tank, reaching depths of 6 inches in some spots.

So the plan will be to remove some sand and either remove or rearrange driftwood so the ray has maximum floor cruising ability and the wolf still has a castle to retreat to if needed.

How much does your wolf eat and what is his size? Mine eats half a tilapia fillet every second day and shows no aggression to his tank mates which includes a handful of fish that are half his size.

Also, I paid $250 for the wolf and $200 for the ray, and I'm only slightly hesitant about this co-hab, for $25 I'd try it in a heartbeat!

He is 9 inches and eats a thin thumb sized bit of tialapa also. He has other food, but doesn't Seem like he wants it. I still think the ray being so cheap he may not live or he may have told me wrong. I used 40lbs in my 120, so I'm thinking 20lb more should be good to cover this tank. Does the ray hide in the sand? Also, your drift wood. How much did it lower your ph? Petsmart sells some that looks really nice. I don't plan on boiling it first. My ph is at a 6 if not slightly lower.

My tap water is pretty neutral and I'm doing 35-40% water changes every three days. (not that I feel its necessary I just enjoy doing them) So i would be surprised if the wood effects my ph much at all. I dont have the ray yet, he arrives on Thursday. I also did not boil my wood.

If I did that many, I think my gf would kill me. Lol. Are you worried about how much ammonia your ray will give off? I've been reading a lot about them, doing my research. If your ph hasn't shifted to much I may try. Can you snap a pic of your setup? What do you plan on feeding your ray? God, I still can't get over how much your wolf eats. Mine has been eating good stuff for a few months since I broke him from goldfish.

I'll try for a full shot in the morn, I just cut down from 14 bichirs in the tank to 6 to accommodate the ray, I doubt the ray will produce more ammonia than 8 full grown bichir haha.
