It looks like sand take from a beach. I don't think I would use it for freshwater aquariums. Ask the seller where is it collected from.

Yeah thats the first thing i thought about... It says marine but it also says that is perfectly suitable for the freshwater aquarium.
Would play sand from lowes work?

Never have used play sand, but I think some ray keepers have.

Very fine gravel works, don't use silica sand though

The play sand is very fine... I love the look of the stuff off ebay but there is second chance if something bad happens. I currently have the fine gravel in there and checking all my temps and ph and all that. The gravel is not the stuff thats sharp.. Any other suggestions? Thanks

You can get away with play sand if you run big pumps and a sump. If you use HOB or canisters chances are you are going to be replacing either impellars or impellar shafts much more frequently. I'd stick to something a lil bigger and heavier. I'm guessing sifting with the right screen would fix that though. Might be worth trying...

So if i just went to a pool store or a hardware store and found Pool filter sand this would be fine for my motoro? Is there anything i need to worry about? Would i have any problems with the sand getting sucked into my filters? Thanks
