the only experience I have with this was not good. I had a juvie texas cichlid get this. His was probably even bigger than the rays though and he was only 2". He lived for quite a while but stopped eating all together. I'll see if I can find the link from my thread.

Sometimes animals will prolapse when they have a high internal parasite load. Might be worth looking into. Is this a newer arrival?
ive seen this before on a very large motoro and the ray did not make it past a few days but it was a lot worse that that, sorry.
so even thought it went back in. it prolly wont make it? and if it will shoudl i wait a certain amount of days be4 i feed again?
Maybe the smelt your feeding are to big, try cutting the smelt into smaller pieces or try worms for awhile until you see that the ray is pooping normally because maybe the smelt is not being digested all the way and its constipating your ray.
