I only have the one cichlid with her, she leaves him alone, but she could easily kill him if she wanted. I guess she just decided one day she wanted to take out the marbled pim but he was to much to handle and she hasn't tried since.

They should be fine, the only time you would probably have issues is with an overly aggressive male that doesn't get his way. Two of the same sex should be fine with no problems. If you want a male and female just make sure you get a bigger female, so he can't overpower her.
I have a pair and they are fine. He has just started to be a bit nippy but the only damage done is a scrape here and there and it is gone the next day. I say go for it if you want some. Rays are the best IMO.

How big do the retics get? I have tried to google them but im not getting the stats I was hoping to find. What size of tank would you need to keep 3 motoros with the possibility of trying to breed them. Im going to build a custom tank for them.
