I think most have heard the news about crowded conditions on Everest leading to deaths. I never thought I would live to see something like this. Just too many people and people with money on the earth who want to fill their bucket list. I feel for the "real climbers". I have always admired them. But this...Everest looking like Disneyland on a holiday weekend. Unbelievable.

I've been following this a little.I had no idea what has been going on up there.....all kinds of trash and dead bodies lying around.Incredible.

Saw that the other day and just had to shake my head at it. I've always followed all the info on Everest I could find, not that I would ever have a chance to go there or anything but I just find it fascinating. When I first saw the pic I thought it had to be fake/photoshopped. It just blows my mind that they would take that many people at once. Normally you have groups of 8-12 at the most. Having that many trying to summit at the same time is just a recipe for disaster, which they are finding out the hard way.

Not to mention, you know how much money is in that pic? I haven't looked for a number of years now but last I saw it was around $60,000 per person to summit it.

Is that the price for the permit?

Hello; While I do not have the sort of passion these climbers have I do sort of understand folks having a passion. I use to run with some guys and a gal or two. One fellow only ran most days because he was training for races. He quit running when he quit the races. I ran for many years but not one race.

That's basically the whole thing. Flying there, permit, guides, sherpa's and everything. At least it use to be few years back, wouldn't surprise me if it were even more now a days but back around 5 years ago they said on a documentary I watched that is ran from about 45-60k just depending who you went with.

I used to go to Mammoth (California) when I was a kid. Last time I went it was all built up and crowded. When I went as a kid there was one store and an old mule we drove by every year.
Now Everest? Mount Everest is crowded?
Blows my mind.

My passion runs out with the threat of frostbite and death.

Haha same here.I don't have much interest in going anywhere that's cold and has bottomless ice chasms to fall down into.
