You would want to look at Malawi Mbuna. There are many different species to choose from. I think if you browse throught the Cichlid-Forum link, you will find a bunch that you will like. I think one of my absolute favorites is Pseudotropheus Acei. They are REALLY common, but they still look good.

pharaoh gave you some pretty good options for tank mates, if you go zebra's sometimes you get an overly aggressive one that you will have to get rid of.

Labeotropheus Trewavasae - Love the nose on these guys.
Cynotilapia Afras
Pseudotropheus elongatus
Tropheops
Pseudotropheus Socolofi - Looks the same as a Lab except blue instead of yellow.
