moven fish ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
fill 220.. declor, get temp right... xfer old filter media ect (bio media)to 220... drain 125 down... scoop 'n plop..

unless your moving and the water chemistry will be different this shouldn't harm the fish one bit. Otherwise if you're really worried about the water differences.. run a hose from the old tank to the new.. and drain the old tank down so the water levels are even... and slowly add new water to the bigger tank, in effect drip acclimating them from their old water to "topping off" with new. the trick is making sure the hose stays above the water-lines to keep the syphon going well.

either way should be alot easier on you and the fish. I personally wouldn't sedate a fish unless I had to... but I've never had to move a 16" Dovi before either.

im goin to have to flip flop the water bewteen the tanks a few time till i getthe 220 in place since i have no container nor will i buy one ....but yeah my dovii for the longest time was mellow now hes a freak and chases and thing that moves and bangsglass like its nothing ....i guess im just do it the old fashion way cause i dont want to hurt him ...thanks everyone for the info

the way i catch large fish is with plastic bags...like the deli/bodega thick blue ones. i make the fish go into the bag while in the water.....then close it and take it out. it prevents the fish from injuring itself. also..the thicker bag should not rip. then, i take the bag and put it in a bucket. the fish cant splash water all over and it keeps it dark and calm. i transported alot of larger fish (although not dovii size)...rose queens, midas...channel cat(real pain cuz the fins) all one foot long (well the channel was about 20 inches)

NO clove oil

I think the op is putting the 220 were the 125 is at now. Also doesnt want to have to put 100% new water. But to the op you can drain the 125. move it and put the 220 with 100% new water that is the right temp and be fine.

i was told if i put a 100% new water in the tank itll cycle and i dont want that i am goin to use the whole filtering system thats on the 125 on the 220 which will b fine two ocean clear filters and 1800 gallon a hr pump ( no more fish just dovii pair) and yea ur right putting the 220 where the 125 sits ...selling the 125 no more for it ...but im worried that if i 100% new water itll cycle so i was goin to put all the water from the 125 in and add 100 gallons

There is no such thing as cycled water, just cycled filters. The only set back I can see to adding 100% new water is that your PH may not be at the level is was in the old tank. Water sometimes needs to be aerated in order for the PH to rise..........

the water out the spicet is like 8 which is the same as the tank ...and would a 100% b ok ..i was thinking about just 1/2 and 1/2 en it so that way there is some bb in the new tank besides jst the filter s
