Moving 300 gal. Tips?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The move went well. That tank weighs a ton!!! We used 8 guys using 2x4s in the middle to cradle it and some heavy duty suction cups that a friend of mine borrowed from his work. We moved the tank from the house in Vancouver (after we cleaned out the last few inches of water and crushed coral substrate and disconnected all the plumbing...should have been done before we got there) into a 14ft enclosed trailer. We then drove it 4 hours home to my home city. The next day using 10 guys we took it from the trailer, down a bank beside my house and into my basement. This time we also used some forearm moving straps. Only casualty is a hole in my drywall behind the tank from a 2x4. The back of the tank is painted so the hole shall not be seen for hopefully a very long time. Lucky to have such great friends. 12 hours to get the tank and 1 more to put it into my house.

Congrats! Good to hear the move went well, aside from the small hole (easy fix) make sure to post up some pics once you have it running and stocked. :D

I like the idea of using a cart I'll be getting a 300 gal soon and I been wondering how to move it and to top it off my truck bed is only 6 ft long and the tank would be 8 ft long
