moving 500 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They built the pyramids faster than they moved this tank I believe LOL.
Is it there yet??

Sorry we haven't respond. We have been very busy with moving into our new house and getting things set up. If you can believe it we moved the tank with two people and a lot of thinking.

1) Threw a couple of straps around it put 1" pvc under it and hooked it up to the winch to drag it onto the trailor
2)backed trailer up to deck (deck was like 2'' lower than trailer) and rolled it off
3) every time we had to turn the tank we put one piece of pvc under the middle of the tank and it just teetered
4) we had a lip to go through the sliding door so we just moved up to 2'' pvc
5) i built the stand 30'' tall and the top of the stairs is 48'' laid a few 4x4's from the top of the stairs to the stand so the actual slope the tank had to roll down wasn't that severe
6)tank rolled right on and we used straps to crank it perfectly into position on the stand
7) put pvc under stand and rolled it across the room into the corner we wanted it

The move was actually really easy. We planned it out step by step and managed to come up with solutions to all of the problem areas ahead of time. We were really surprised that it went as smoothly as it did. Total time to do the move was about 6 hours and with only two of us I'd say that's pretty damn good.

congrats on the move finally man, i like the thought of rolling it on the pvc. i also just recently moved a larger tank (150 gall) into a basement and me and another guy just muscled it down there!:headbang2

Glad to hear it was a successful move. Big ones are a lot easier to move than you really think. When I picked up the 500, I had ten people there ready to go. When I unloaded it,it was just my sister and I. Much easier with two people, IMO.
