Good thing you guys move that gigas at 30", it would be almost impossible to do that when it reach 5', I should know because I moved my gigas at 60" with the help of 5 people and sad to say it was unsuccessful, it died on me after 5 days but that was decades ago so don't feel sorry for me. :naughty: That Pacu is super huge! thanks trust for sharing, love the fotoshop work.... :screwy:

Wow that sux ass. How did it die? Why? How did you guys move it? How far? did it appear overly stressed out after the move?

Thanks for the read Jed. Hope this guy has plenty of life left in it, would be a shame to lose such a monster.

awesome
i wish i could set up a large tank like that but sadly i have little to no money
ill be happy with the new 75 gal...for a while

yes please teach us how to build these tanks. I'm an owner of a large pacu and he needs a bigger tank already. I’ve got the space for a pretty big one. 6’ by 36” Does any one have suggestions on which way to go. My budget is about $600 right now and this fish is growing like crazy. I can’t find any tanks to buy in my price range. I don’t mind the thought of building one but there seem to be a lot of ways to go wrong. eutucker@hotmail.com

You can build a large aquarium tank out of plywood and landscape timber. A word of caution… do not use any EPDM or PVC pond liner material as a substitute for plywood as Pacu will chew it apart in no time.

The picture below will give you an idea of what a 1600 gallon plywood tank looks like. A smaller version of my aquarium without a window would be well within your budget. With proper lighting the big pacu and many other jumbo tropical fish will look great from above and the inhabitants will become very sociable. For more pictures on how I built my 2400 gallon heated plywood aquarium visit my web site: http://www.anythingfish.com/images/Ted/PhotoGallery/TedsPacu2400 Construction Photos.htm
