No not 250 pounds of water 6 or 7 five gallons jugs. So that would be more like 280 pounds but not all at once just 8 pounds at a time. Wow you really do think of the glass half empty.

You psycho haha just go back to bickering with me via pm so I don't have to be so careful with the words I choose haha

Well I don't necessarily clean my filters now, but yeah before I made some inline sealed filters I cleaned my canisters once of month.

Just drip acclimate your fish to the new tank wouldnt want the new water to have a different PH, KH, GH than what your service currently provides and shock the fish.

Ok- and should I bother cleaning the gravel in the process or is good bacteria found in there as well as in the filter?

90% of the bb is in the filter media. Kep it wet in tank water. Don't waste your time with moving old water. I just did a move a week ago. I also add a couple drops of prime to the bucket with the fish to keep any ammonia neutralized.
Again next to no bb in tank water.

I've moved tons of large fish 12 inches+ without a drop or freak out.

The way I do it is leave the tank full of water then drain some water into a holding container. Then get a heavy duty trash bag and fill it with water so the fish can easily swim in. My fish seem to trust me enough to let me grab them and slowly move them into a bag. Once there in they shouldn't freak out instead be calm.

Leave enough water in the bag so the fish is suspended so this means that the trash bag will be heavy. Lift the trash bag into the holding container and gently open the bag then let him swim out. When moving him back into the newly set up tank use a trash bag again in the reverse process and this is the easiest way and the least stressful for the fish imo.

Netting them in my experiences breaks the trust you have had with the fish and they will be wary of you for a LONG time. The bag method keeps the trust.

As mentioned keep the filter media wet and you'll be fine.
