That is very strange, I would be looking at the corals too. Espcially if the tap water checks out. They can nuke the tank of the fish, for sure run active carbon and try one or two hardy fish after a little while.
All my water perameters were just fine during the whole die off. I think it might've been the stressed coral toxins. I did quite a few small water changes and added carbon, and now the little maroon clown "test fish" is doing just fine. Yay, success! I think I'll monitor him for a while before I add the fish I really want. Thanks everyone!
Clowns aren't a really good test fish for coral toxins either. They have quite a bit of immunity from their association with anemones. Fwiw, I'd run the carbon for about a week you might want to give it at least one change out.
