I'm with Burtess, throw some styro under it. I'd also put a crapload of blankets etc around/under it so stuff doesn't kick up on it, and above all watch the bumps.
I think you will be fine. Instead of wood I have always used towels against the tank and strap/car/tailgates to give the tank some wiggle room during the car trip! This is what I did with my old 360g.
