joel Backfromthedead- I should have also added that I have a few 75 gallon aquariums already running so I do have all the apropriate test equipment. I have an Aqueon canister filter waiting and ready to go because the only filter I see in the pic is a HOB and I want to keep this tank clean. I am bringing two big bottle of PRIME and I will get my buckets ready.

Is the aqueon cycled?

You will still need to use the old ac110 and media to "speed cycle" the tank. Im not sure if you meant you were gonna try and just use a new filter. That would take a few weeks without some seasoned media involved. Im currently doing this with a 150 i just set up.

The ac110 and sponge filter are both seasoned and i just put together that diy matten filter which will eventually be the only filtration.

Also agree with Jexnell Jexnell maybe consider some more powerful filtration. Im not sure about the aqueon canisters but consider something like an fx6 or eheim 2262.

If the tote you get has a nice square rim you could just put the AC110 on it running while you do the other work. I did, just stack up 2x4, books what ever under it to support its weight. Make sure water lvl is high enough or long enough intake. You can buy extras to make it longer 1534964508136-1110654731.jpg

When I was moving my 125 I used these super strong glass suction cups made for moving big glass windows and they made it so easy, if u can find them I would get them as they were so helpful and made it really easy
Great advice so far from everyone. I just did what you are about to do about 6 months ago. Not much else to add outside of these suction cups are great. I rented some from my lfs for about $35.

Typically it would be a good idea to keep as much of the original water as possible but looking at that water I would try not to add more than 20 gal or so , it looks pretty nasty. Lol. Nice find though.

I believe in underpopulating tanks so fish have lots of growing room and plenty of space to move. I have a 110 gallon with 1shubunkin, 1rescued feeder goldfish and 2 plecos. Goldfish have enough company to stay happy, and lots of space to really move around in.

It looks like your biggest challenge may be getting the tank off the stand. Man, they have that thing crammed in a corner. Weight wise it's a piece of cake. My gf and I just moved a 125 down to my basement a couple weeks ago. I've found that more than two people on a 125 just tend to get in the way.
