Moving Fish Tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You need to put more fish in there. ;)

i have one endli and cant wait for him to become a monster like yours and did the move go ok

had to rebuild support for stand with 2x4, found alot of rot. Be sides Lost of my Ornate and Odoe Pike Tank move went smooth. Adjusting to new Home and figuring out easiest way to fill tank. Still have to put all my drift wood in my tank

I'll be doing this in 2 months or so with my 225 (5x2x3 wide) It's a pain to move, but it fits neatly into the back of a ford flex if you set the back seats down. that and I'm only moving 5 minutes away.

Getting the tank up the stairs is the hardest part because we have 2 bends in the staircase. with enough people though (at least 4) it should be really easy.

I plan on getting 2 of those plastic containers from walmart, you know the 50 gallon ones that you put kids toys in or whatever, half fill those and hook up a filter and heater in each. that way I can leave the fish in those for a few days even which gives me enough time to drain the tank, empty the gravel and decorations, move the tank and then set it up again in the new house.

also, my fish aren't that big, but I don't trust cramming them all into a tiny space. I will use one tub for my predatory fish (bichirs, knife fish, catfish etc)
and then another for my more active open swimmers (chalceus, chocolate cichlid, giant gourami).

this will stop the predators from eating stuff, and stop the more active fish from pestering the predators
