If it's only a 2-hour trip, go with the coolers. If it was a longer trip, I'd go with bags and oxygen.

moving fish

i always use rubbermaids and take atleast 50% of my original water with me then add more when i get the tank set up which means that sometimes i have moved 120 gallons of water for one tank in alot of rubbermaids but i have never lost a fish in a move luckily i just bought a house so i dont have to move them for along time maybe never again
Last year I was relocated to a new city 850Km's away.
My options were to give away my fish or try and make the move with them.
I used 5 gall buckets(20" long/12" high), two fish per bucket.
I used tank water and cracked the lids. I was worried about areation,, however it seemed that the natural rocking of the truck on the highway kept the water areated.
All fish survived the trip, albeit with red and bruised snouts, my bichers barbels were almost worn off.
