moving large fish across the country

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i'd run a power inverter to a pump for some bubble filters or airstones...Just build a plywood box and pond liner it. Rubbermaids can be annoying for large fish and the lids are not water tight. Time spent on a simple transport box can save alot of headaches and keep your car dry if there inside. Furthest ive moved was 3 hours with over 50 fish 4"-24" and they all made it, i brought enough water with me to fill 2 300 rubbermaid ponds and got them right in when i arrived. I had 2 Ford f150's and a s10 filled with rubbermaid containers, the ponds and my fish. I would never sell my fish in a move, your responsible to get them to your new home lol its only right. A friend of mine traveled from Cleveland Ohio to Washington state for a plethera of 3-4' catfish, Box truck with an 800 gallon pond in the back with full filtration running lol....Its very possible

Wow Wednesday, that's impressive. It's encouraging, thanks

So thinking of getting 100gal rubbermaid livestock tub, covering it with acrylic of some type, and running sponge filter. will be in pickup bed, in June. Thinking the temp won't be an issue provided decent weather and would rather have water a bit warm. Thoughts anyone?

If it's in June, then overheating will be your biggest problem, in a pickup bed. Does the bed have a cap?
Also, put the tub on top of a sheet of styrofoam to help smooth the rough ride that comes with a pickup truck.
