I am moving my fish a couple blocks away from my current house...any precautions I should take?

How big of a tank are you moving? I usually get the decor out and lower the water as low as the fish will allow and move the whole tank with everyone in it. I'm talking about 55gal tanks...nothing HUGE.

:nono: ......Empty your tank all the way before moving it anywhere if it is glass......

if you're not using an air stone, don't put too many fish in a too small transport holder (such as a bucket) because they'll suffocate. i know it's rather common sense, but people will sometimes stuff 10+ medium to large fish in a 5 gallon bucket; and it doesn't work.

Are you moving a tank as well? If not why not just bag them up like they would at a fish store and take them straight there and climates them like normal, this is of course if they are small enough.

10gal...nothing big

i take the decor in a box and then leave the gravel in their. drain the tank completely and save as much water as you can. this way you can spread your fish load to numerous buckets. with a 10G you should be fine with all the fish in one bucket and just drain the water completely. leave the gravel in there as i dont believe that will cause a problem. have fun!!!

He's only talking a couple blocks. How long can it take.
And with a 10g, I don't think there are any medium/large fish in it.
If there is, then I have more serious questions.
