I would have got an ery if they were legal :(
I already have one, but he seems to be suffering from swim bladder disease... It came after a year of having him, I hate to see him laying on his side and swimming weird. :(

That sucks

That sucks
It does, and it's the first time it ever happened to me, too. Chances of making an Ery eat peas are slim to inexistant... :( Rose the temp a bit, but he still darts to the surface every now and then, which I think is how he got it, trying to eat food right as it hit the water, and gulped down too much air. :(

Thats a shame. Given my countries lax import control i could get one. Is yours alone or does he have tankmates?

Oh he has tankmates, he chases the Odoes and the SDs whenever they manage to grab food he wanted, never a single bite, just scaring them off. There's Polys, panaques, and he also had ATF and arowanas as tankmates. Neither of the latter were big enough to be a threat.

Pretty full tank. Being so aggressive with food i dont think ab ery would be good with knives

From memory, knives are pretty fragile, so I wouldn't advise it.
Chitalas got pretty torn up back in the days, I just couldn't bear knowing they'd need to fight their way to life to get a decent growth, and I had to get rid of them asap. And that was not quite as aggressive tankmates as Erys.

My pink tail is snall and pretty docile so the knives do OK, it is just getting food to them since the pink tail eats all unless i hand feed

Certain knives are fine. I've kept numerous African and bgks with ery ery. But not the larger clowns, bad mix. The oddball knives like ossa, pelican, and thermometer are sensitive to aggressive tankmates so I wouldn't do it.

You won't be disappointed. :)

Taken a couple of minutes before. Lovely and underrated Hoplias; aggressive feeding and does well with tank mates (most of the time).
