okay long story short i have my 55 gallon tank at my x g/f's. now i need to get it back to my house. problem is it's cold as **** here in michigan. i have never moved the tank from her room neither since we got it started so the tank water and everything is off a completely different water type then what i have at my house. fish i have are 2 Id sharks clown loach silver dollar and a random pelco.so whats the safest/best way to get my tank and fish to my house.

You know you will need a much bigger tank in the future anyway best way I can think of put the fish in buckets get a couple of 5 -20 gallon buckets (cheap) and pour all your water into those put it in your car them refill itall again,

moving all the water is not an option also i don't know how much longer i will have these fish as well. since they were mainly my x's choices. i want a wolf.

In what way is the water different? I really can't think of a reason (baring a significant change in pH) why if wouldn't be fine. No need to move the water...

I use ice chests to move fish when the weather is cold. Is this a long move? If so a battery powered air pump may be in order. Maybe a few squirts of Amquel...(or brand of your choice).

I take most of the substrate out of my tanks before moving. I lift and move 55's by myself (I'm a pretty big guy). Any larger and I recruit help from someone. I have moved my 100 gal with the help of a hand truck and moving pads, but I was nervous as hell...

I went through this same thing last year. I had to move a 55 and a 125 from my ex's place after a nasty break up. I let her keep a 55 as well since I bought it for her, needless to say I wound up taking the other 55 2 weeks later cause she wanted me to come clean it once a week, not no but hell no. I left the gravel in the tanks, but the fish into 5 gal buckets and moved the tanks 1 at a time. It was a pain, but well worth it. I left about an inch of water in the tanks and kept the hob's wet. All my fish survived, even my prized ebjd, 3" at the time. Just take ur time and keep the fish as warm as possible. Good luck

Your EX wanted you to service the tank? HELL NO is right lol. What a crazy chick...

I agree if you keep the filters wet, and the fish warm you don't need to bring all the water. Think of it as a large WC just keep like 10-15 gallons of the original water and use prime or amquel on the new water coming in.
