The mangrove trees have been getting a little out of hand, growing over 5 feet above the sumps water surface.
The most worry some aspect though, is that the roots might begin to compromise the integrity 125 gal glass sump.
The solution (at least as see it), is to move the trees to a separate barrel sump, a little less costly to replace, if the roots get too invasive.

I've picked up a 55gal plastic barrel, a couple bulkheads, and a hole saw drill bit, and situated the barrel where it ¨may work¨.

Next step to drill the barrel, and retrofit the sump plumbing extesions.

Sounds like a wise & necessary decision mate. How old is the mangrove tree now? Seems like it’s only been about a year since you acquired it 🤔

I fisrt found the pods (propagules) and scooped them from the Pacific in early 2021.

They were planted in hollow bamboo stems, filled with beach sand.
Of about 20 pods, half dozen rooted, and were able to get enough adequate sunlight.

Holes drilled this morning, and bulkheads screwed in.

These will be the effluent/overflows,
below, inside the barrel sump

Not the most feng shui of designs, at least until the gardens camouflages it all.
