Ok so this will be my first real move with fish. As of right now I havea 150g, 3 75g, a 40B and 2 29g going with me with fish in them. The smaller tanks (29g x2, 40B and one 75g) are moving tomorrow. Those tanks include; 29g #1 Fire eel 7", electric blue achara breeding pair and a couple plecos. 29g #2 3 Pidgeon blood discus juvies. 40B 6 juvie red empress, 6 juvie flamebacks, juvie flowerhorn and some plecos. 75g Female Dovii 4". Im not really worried about any of these tanks, everything should go smooth. Now for sundays tanks.. 75g #1 Mala wolf 6", Achara catfish 8", Brachyplatystoma Platynemus 11". 75g #2 About 15 different peacocks and haps, 3 clown loaches, and 5 different types of plecos. 150g 12 different species of polys 14" and under, 2 florida gar 8" & 11", and one mayan cichlid 5". All feedings stopped yesterday, I will be doing 50% WC on all tanks tomorrow morning. Smaller groups or single fish will be carried in a 5g bucket. Larger groups will be taken in large rubbermaid totes. I will be using the battery powered air pump on the african cichlids and probably the catfish and wolf. We are moving about an hour away. So the fish will be in their "containers" for about an hour and a half roughly. I will only be doing two tanks at a time. Now for my one concern. My 150g is in our basement (6'x18"), so when we move it it has to go up a flight of stairs (about 12 steps). At the top of the stairs is a hallway and the tank only fits through if it is stood up. I will only have one friend with me, will this be a problem? Should we use a dolly, the type for appliances? All tanks will be 100% empty. Filters and media will be in buckets of tank water. I have to make new stands for the the two 29g (probably stacked), the 40b and the 150. I will have them made before bringing the tanks in. Am I missing anything? Does my plan sound decent? Im a nervous wreck about the 150. I could use any help i can get. Thanks ahead of time!!!!

Take your time and try to get more man power. When I moved 3 hrs away all I did was put my big fish in coolers with air pump and I cushioned my big tank. That was the last thing that I moved so nothing's in my way. GL and let us know how it goes once you're settled in.

Sounds right to me. They should do fine and best of luck with your move. Maybe if you have space transport extra tank water, to minimize transport shock once they are in new tanks.

I was going to try to take some of the old water. That brings up another good point. Do you guys think a 15 min acclimation time is good or should i do longer?

For polys there not finicky on water. you could just dump them in and they will be fine. framcosco framcosco knows haha. If you have HOB's.as soon as you get to the new place run them on the tubs so they can last a little longer while you set up the tanks. when i got my 240g. all my fish were in either tubs or a tank that was on the floor while i started to set up my 240g. I had to move 2 tanks or so to put in my 240g. so my whole stock were in tubs or a tank moved after i put in the 8ft. took me a few days or so to put everything back. but did not loose anything. but i guess the senario is different since your moving. Just like everyone said. take your time and dont rush it. Also sense the move make sure your water is good before you start tubbing them all. so the water has time before spoil

Putting the 150 on its side with a dolly if height permit works. JUST DO A 80% WC the night before your move. No need to save ANY of the tank water other than the water that will be with the fish. MOST IMPORTANT THING HERE IS THE TEMP.... try to keep the temp in ball park area. So if fish are at 78 degrees.... make sure the temp in your tank id 76-80 degrees. What shocks fish in general is more so temp. Since you will do an 80% water change the night before.....water parameters won't differ much. Don't feed. Fish can go weeks without eating. Best of luck!!!

Is the 150 a glass tank or acrylic? My 150 is glass and it's pretty heavy. I had 3 guys help move mine. Good luck with your move!

Thanks everyone. Its a glass 150, an older one with a big glass center brace lol.. I wish i could get more people but only two can fit on the stairs at once so it would be kind of pointless. I had to hire movers to get it down because it was just my gf and i and she couldnt lift it lol. I dont blame her, its heavy. Maybe i will have to hire movers to get it up..

when I moved I had my fish in a kiddie pool in the basement for a few weeks . your fish will do fine keep the oxygen flowing and ull do great

If you rely on biological filtration, you may want to bring water. If you are doing 80% water changes you probably won't have much bio filtration to kill off, so don't worry about it.

As long as you are adding fish to warmer water, I don't worry about temp too much but adding fish to cooler temps is were acclimation is key.
