I will be chronicling the moving of my fish from Pennsylvania to Virginia. Approx seven hour drive.

Here are the supplies I grabbed from Walmart. About 80$.

Will be moving:

Dovii pair
Flowerhorn
4 Uaru
Chocolate cichlid
Leaf fish
Bristlenose pleco
Jaguar
Severum
Jurupari earth eater

The plan. I have to leave the day before I can move in so the fish will have to be in these containers for about 20 hours. I'm going to attempt to keep as much water in the filters as possible and pack them tight in a tote with bubble wrap. It's supposed to 67F for those two days so I'm hoping my BB doesn't have a significant die off. Going to tape hand warmers to the lids of the styrofoam containers and poke an air line sized hole in the lid for the battery powered air pumps. Taping the units to the outside of the containers. The containers will be packed tight in with bubble wrap in a tote to prevent tipping.

Personally I would take extra water, and at rest stop do partial wc, have water conditioner prime ,etc handy.:)

Thanks! I wish I had more time to check out the fish stores but it was a last minute transfer and I was scrambling to find apartments haha.

The drive is only seven hours long. They are being fasted for 48 hours before hand, I don't think the water will foul that quickly. I thought about it, but I came to the conclusion that the cons of opening everyone up in a flurry to do a pwc outweights the pros of a pwc.

When I get to the hotel it'll be a different story. I will be hooking up an electrical air pump and changing out the hand warmers // actually putting heaters in the tank. I'll do a pwc if I have to. If I get everyone packed and leave around 2pm and get it all started up no later than 11am that's less than 24 hours. Fish survive longer trips by plane with no air pumps and all my guys will have air pumps so I have confidence they'll be okay.

I wouldn't let the hand warmers touch the water. The powder inside of them always leaks out of the mesh bags. Perhaps placing them in plastic baggies.
