Could be permanent, but working on a land contract with a couple years rent to begin with.

What are your plans once your settled?

I have recently retired, so my intention is to live comfortably in a place where I can afford to do that, and also be surrounded by the fish I'm interested in.
Helps to have a girlfriend that wants to live there, as much (if not more) than I do.
The pueblo is quite remote, though not that far from a cosmopolitan area to be inaccessible, but it is, far enough.

Duane, I must say (as others have said and will say) you are going to be 'living the dream'. I envy your decision, and given other circumstances, I would be of a similar mind. Can't imagine living where the cichlids are living. Even though I have never met you personally, I have followed your posts, your travel adventures to the Yucatan, your obtaining new species, your thoughts and perceptions on fish keeping matters ... the list goes on. Your fish 'likes' align very closely with mine. All the best in your exciting future life in Panama. Just might show up on your doorstep one day.

This sounds like a great adventure, good luck.

you can have a simple life doing the things you love most while you retire, I couldn't agree with you more. I can't wait to see some of the updates you will post from your new home!

You will forget about the US in no time except maybe for some TV shows haha, I have never lived in Central America but I have lived all over the world and I am definitely jealous. Can't say I would like to live in the US though, except maybe for the cheap fish stuff haha

you may be the first here to do this, but no doubt there will be others that follow in your inspiration!
