Moving

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
then i was also thinking i would only feed them very little for the following two days after the move... this way the bacteria has time to rebuild before it is shocked by the huge bio load.....

buy another fx5 or similar, run the new one and the old filter on the 150, with a ray, the 10" in one ASAP, seriously, tomorrow if possible. This way you will have 2 seeded filters by the end of May, both at your new home. The move may do more damage than you anticipate to your bio-filter.

Buy a gallon of Kordon Amquel + for ponds (concentrated) it will save your rays if filters fail (ammonia or nitrite spiking) gal - 20000 gallons of treatment ($40).

i have two fx5, should i bring both and just run the main tank off of its sump?

Just saying, no matter what the filter is, even hydro sponges on air pumps, WAY over-filter the 150, but don't leave the 370 under-filtered. Assume that the worst is going to happen (crashed bio-filters = 2-3 week reset)... avoid this by having filters running and seeded on the 150. A couple hundred bucks on some more filters is well worth a pair of leo's and your motoro's. Pretend like these are brand new tanks after the move, do extra w/c's also, I would keep the 150 and 370 running at the same time, just in case the 370 crashes.

buy a power inverter and run the fx5 on a tub with the ray...

Yeah, I wouldn't leave the fx5s "stagnant" for that long.

Kevin,

I have a few extra tanks laying around..... a 8 by 2 by 2 and 8 by 2 by 2.5. IF either of these would help, you are more than welcome to them. They have just been sitting in storage for about a year and I have no future plans for them. I'd rather see a fellow raykeeper put them to use then have them just collect dust.
