Mozambique tilapia

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well if you have the room for them id recommend them for certain! the low aggression makes them a good alternative to the tilapia butterkofferi thats for sure. id expect them to get to aa similar size!

What kind of tank space do they require? I've got an empty 55 I'm looking to put something in. Although, it sounds like I could maybe put one in my 125 with a Pacu, GT, and JD.

As large as possible. I grew a few up in a 180 to 18" each. They were in with my Wallego leeri catfish at about the same size. I moved them to an indoor pond about 1,000 gallons with the Wallego after a couple of years he ate them all. I still have the Wallego and he is over 50" and lives in my 52K. As the others have said they are pretty peaceful but you always get the odd exception when they get over a foot long. They are a very nice fish, many people don't keep because Tilipias are a food fish (supermarket).
