Me and my bf taught his little brothers Oscar to ring a bell for food. Its really neat we would ring the bell and feed him, then soon enough s/he got the idea so now when it is hungry it will jump up and hit the bell, and if you dont go feed him, he will keep ringing the bell over and over.. I found it pretty amusing. Do you guys have any of your fish ever do this?

I was watching the news a few months back and it was saying something about GOLDFISH not having a 3 second memory span!

They proved it by adding a buzzer in the water and like you said every time they fed the fish they would buzz the buzzer and the fish would come to the feeding ring so they buzzed the buzzer when there was no food to test there theory and as luck would have it the little fish came swimming up to an empty feeding ring ! This then prooving that fish don't have a 3 second memory span.

And the bell i think is a genius idea i may think about training mine to do that ...lol

When I was a kid there was a lfs that had a large koi in a small pond and it could play cards, sort of. The owner had some oversized plastic playing cards and four plastic holders that slid into slots in the pond, he would deal out 4 three card hands and put them each in a slot, the koi would pick the highest hand. if it was right it got fed. It was usually right. It was a neat gimmick that got people to come into the store.

When you was a kid guppy .... i'm suprised you can remember that far back ....lol Joke !

I almost believed the story about an Oscar ringing the roomservice.

But guppy's cards-playing carp is too much for me.

The fish just picked out the face cards, if they all had the same # of face cards it would pick at random, The shop was in Navato, Ca. and the owner got a write up in the local paper every year.

Now it makes more sense.
