Ive noticed a few mts in my tank lately, and when i looked in it tonight, i counted 6. I used to have 2. Will these end up becoming a problem in my tank? Ive got stocking room, should i get loaches to eat the snails? (i also like loaches a lot, i wouldnt just get them to eat the snails.)
any help would be appreciated.
I actually do not mind the MTS. They help a lot by aerating the substrate with their constant burrowing and even consume decaying plant matter and food leftovers that contribute to deterioration of water quality. If anything, you need to control your feeding rations as their overpopulation is caused by abundant food supply.

u r one sneaky little bugger. kudos. that was good.

I have mts and LOVE them! I think they are great little creatures!! Of course I am lucky that I know a couple of oscars who would love to have a good snack if they get out of control! ;)

If you do have a population explosion and plan to keep them all, they may need some water additives. I've found that when I get too many, they suck the calcium out of the water and their shells start to deteriorate. Adding a cuttlebone helps.

If you aquire a huge population of them let me know. Id love to have them if you could ship them to me. My turtle loves eating them.

Same here! ship some out to me when you get too many. I keep trying to put them in my planted tanks to move around the sand and aerate the soil. Everytime I have tried putting them in my tanks they died a few weeks ago. Wish i could get an established population.
