mud for my mudskippers?

does anyone know what kind of mud mudskippers live on?
and if it's posible to create my own mud

my mudskippers are trying to build burrows in the gravel but that (of course) doesn't hold.
so i curious about what kind of mud i can use so they can digg and build watever they want

but try and find it in aragonite though to keep your pH in balance.

only freshwater rivers, no saltwater of brackishwater

sand doesn't hold when it floods again (happens every 6 hours)
so i need something more firm
i think with low tide the mud wil dry like kley (spelling?? you know like play-doh) and when it's dry it might hold firm in the water when it floods

I found that you should be after a "sediment that consists of peaty fibrous mud". Don't know how much that helps... got it from 'Breeding, growth, mortality and yield of the mudskipper Periophthalmus barbarus (Linneaus 1766) (Teleostei: Gobiidae) in the Imo River estuary, Nigeria'.
I know they have build up a little wall around the burrow so it remains waterlogged when the water drops when it is time for the fish to hatch.

i don't realy understand "peaty fibrous"
is it like a mixture of rivermud and sand??

ummm I imagine it's pretty much river mud. It's quite hard to explan... peaty and fibrous would be like bog mud or the mud in wetlands- has a lot of decaying vegetation in it. Or swamp mud. If you have any of these I'd use that.

i've changed the substrate today into a mixture of sand and clay
it was an advise from a dutch biologist who specialises in magroves

so now it's time to wait and see if they still keep on digging
