If you use multiple filters on the same Aquarium. Do think it is possible the waterflow can actually loose efficiency due to multiple inputs working against each other? I hope this question makes sense:screwy:. Sorta like the flow getting off balance?

Depends on where the outputs are facing, even if they are creating turbulent flow it will still suck up crap....this being said I believe there is a point where it becomes a waste of energy, that's why I rely on pothos and my fx5 with a korilia 1450gph circulator blowing all the crap to my fx5, I prefer efficiency!

If you mean can re-filtering water that has just been filtered cause one to lose efficiency, then I'd say yes, if you are performing biological filtration on both filters (again, the one sending the filtered water directly to the second.) You still may have reasons to do that however, that defy efficiency.

If the first is mechanical, and the second bio, or if the first is a more porous mechanical followed by a less porous mechanical, then no.

I am planing on adding some Pothos asap. And was thinking of shelfing a filter it seems to me large dabris just seems to flow right past the intakes and float to the bottom, thus the reason for this Thread? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. All outflows should be facing in different direction is the correct? F1vet makes a good point about power?

My system is cheaper but it runs on the same idea

I do not want to go off subject but just one quick question F1 or Greenbud. F1 I noticed you use a basket to hold the roots. Greenbud do you do the same? I did read the thread and I noticed some people just let the roots go in the tank. Will this method let the roots get out of control without the basket? Also will large Cichlids ither make lunch of them or tear them up as a playtoy?

Back to the subject I do have all my outputs facing away from the inputs. All my filters have both Bio and Mechnical. I swear the large fish is almost as bad as cleaning up dog P???.

Hey!! wanted to try another factor. All of my current filter use a standard out. How about if you add a spraybar, in what way does that change the flow?
