I recently sold my old 125 with the 20in silver I had. I upgraded to a 180. I just got my hands on an 8in Jar. This is my first jar, I am liking it more and more each day. I know they can become very super dangerously agressive. Would adding 2 more Jars work in calmming them down, or making them less agressive???

I know they say it works for have a mutiple number of silvers or blacks so they won't get agressive towards each other. I am wondering if this will work the same for Jars. Any thoughts? or even personal experience you would like to share?

doubt it, but worth a try if you're ok with coming home to a sh*t show one day :D. all being said my jar was the aro that got picked on until i sold it. i also kept him with the big boys as soon as he was just past food size. just my $0.02.

My Jar lives in my pond with some oscars, pacu and a bunch of other fish. They all live happily. He's about 14 inches long.

The cross brace on my Silvers' (about 14 inches long too) tank let go a couple of fridays ago. I fished him out and put him in the pond while i fixed the brace and refilled the tank. On friday night I saw the Jar swimming with the silver and thought, "that's nice they've made friends, maybe they could go into the tank together when it's fixed"
On saturday morning I find the Silver lurking in the corner of the pond, minus most of his fins, and about half his tail scales. There were teeth marks all done his body from where the Jar attacked him. I was gutted because I've spent several months nursing the fish back to health after i rescued it from a dodgy pet shop. Long story short he's back in his tank and on the mend again.

Multiple Jars would look cool but I doubt it will work, it certainly wouldn't if they are anything like mine...

Search Tonymofo's threads, he tried keeping multiple jars. Started with seven, ended with only a couple in separate tanks.

Very risky, haven't seen it on hear in the context your proposing.

ive seen two together although its very rare!!!!! i stress that point and im sure its only a matter of time before he comes home to just 1, cant be done unless your talking mega litres., ( well i should not say "cant" because nothing is impossible im just saying... i guess people have won lotto before?)

dude, my lfs has tons of these - in seperate containers - even the owner's pet jar is never kept with anything else...
