Just a quick Q, what would you need to breed a pair of MC's?

I'm guessing a lot of space would be one, but I'm not sure that'd be a factor, seeing that most mates live in close proximity to each other and will move into a large snag together and not move until the deed is done.

Anybody ever successfully bred these things?

Yes they are being successfully farmed now in ponds . They do need a hollow log to spawn but will take a cement pipe or PVC tube.

first u gotta get a pair.

Ponds as small as 3m x 2m x 1.5m deep have been successful. Males are territorial and they will spawn with increase temp in spring. Around about now in fact if your in Brissy. Females may spawn twice in a season if they are in good condition. Fish as small as 2Kg may be big enough but you get much better fertility and survival from bigger broodstock - 10Kg or larger is recommended.
