Over all, hands down my vote is on imports. I just can't see myself buying another american car, ever again.

Im down for muscle. Im destined to get a mustang as soon as I get my license

I love all cars, I personally have a nissan 350z. And talking power to weight here, mustangs are heavy I Dono who this guy is saying his mustang weights 2800lbs, because that's 500lbs lighter than my little 2 door 2 seater coupe. unless you stripped it right down get real imports are way smaller and lighter. Unless you have a 69. And even then you would have to do work to it to get it that light

Its fully gutted with a cage and a procharger

Where's Zoodiver and the other Mustang guys?

Right here.

I also think the types of road systems we have in each of our respective countries can deturmine how cars are designed.
US has grid iron road layouts.
Uk has alot less of this..
At least I think so.....

I agree with this. I'm not a fan of one over the other. I'm a fan of a well done car that fits the need. Different cars are great at doing different things. I don't want to take a high hp muscle a car on slicks and skinnies through the winding ack roads of Italy. And I don't want to drag race a Fiat down some of the quarter mile tracks in the Midwest.

I had a 600 hp 2800 lbs 2000 Mustang that only had a V6, and still beat down a lot of high end imports and domestics around the road course. My V8 Mustangs would out handle a lot of the imports as well. It's all in what you do with them. I have some old school iron in the mix with a '70 Mach 1. That car is a beast - but that's what they were back then because of the technology of the day.

I also just bought a 4 door gas sipper - but chose a to go with an SVT product so at least I got the handling and braking stepped up. I love driving it. It's fun and gets the job done. Granted put it on the track against my track car and it won't match up, but the track car doesn't match on the 'get to work without costing $50 a day in gas' aspect of the C-SVT.

Comparing cars of years past to today is like apples and oranges. Tech is much better. When I was a kid, American cars were known as gas guzzling power houses and imports (at least to the US) were low power fuel savers. Today, American cars (IE Mustang) are making great power (300 hp) on smaller engines (3.7L V6) that still get great MPG. Imports are getting more powerful and keeping the MPG they are known for.

I would vote overall for muscle. Earlier someone commented about bang for you buck with american muscle cars weighing 5000 lbs and having same power raitings as a 3.7 v6 or so which is horibly inaccurate. If you havent looked recently the american v6 power plants in muscle cars are dead on with anything overseas, 300+ easy, and the v8 power plants well above the 400 mark for low 30's (depending on additional options). This makes them extremely affordable and if you have driven one of the modern muscle cars they will surprise you in terms of handling/braking because it is absolutely superb.

Now dont get me wrong I dont have anything against imports because my daily driver is an import, a Mazda RX-8 but I also have 2 2nd gen F bodies (1981 Camaro Z28 and a 1971 Firebird Formula).

Muscle car all the way for me. I have a 2011 V6 Mustang and wouldn't trade it for anything.

i own a rx8 and sell cars so ive driven pretty much everything under the sun. massive power and torque are fun at stoplights, but id prefer an excelent handling car over super quick car. i enjoy the handling everytime i get in my 8 but have to be selective where to unleash 500+ hp muscle cars. that being said europeans make a great combo of power and handling. anyone who has ever driven a bmw understands why they are the known as the "ultimate driving machine"

also you guys arguing motors and such realize *spoiler alert* they are shared across different brands. 07 saturn vue has a 3.5 honda motor ud find in almost every acura, the amazing 3.7 in fords? yup thanks mazda. but the 3.7 was also derived off of fords 3.5 which mazda started using for the first year of the cx9. yamaha builds motors for volvo etc... could go on for days. the tsunami that devistated japan and the whole car industry hit audi the hardest because their key ecus from japan.

and whoever said muscle cars weigh 5000lbs is looking at a gvwr which includes maximum passanger and cargo load

If we are talking cheap speed I'm down with the muscle. I had a 92 5.0 GT my favorite car I've had to date. My 92 300zx could kill my mustang on winding roads but as my dad says on a straight away it would get sucked up one flowmaster and spit out the other.
