easy way to solve things is to just buy american made. You always hear people preaching about purchasing american things over chinese made items at the store

My first two cars years ago (during my student days) were older VWs. Even at the slightest inclines, I had to be in the slow lane with the big trucks. I vowed that some day I would have a car that would cruise uphill passing everything else on the road. A couple of turbo charged Buicks and a V8 Cougar made passing cars quite fun. I remember being at a car wash when an old lady said, "That's a nice car." "What kind of mileage do you get?" I gave her the flippant retort, "I didn't buy it for the mileage."

Now I drive a 2011 Camry which I despise because the mileage is a lot worse than the 2004 Camry I had before it. I want a Prius 4. Eeks, yikes! I have become that old lady! One speeding ticket converted me, and I can still pass slow vehicles with a wimpy car...I just don't burn as much gas. I do love muscle where I really need it--for my boat and truck...no compromising there on muscle.

I wasn't aware there were any,or very many Chinese made cars that were sold in this country.

Sorry that may have not come out clear enough. I was trying to reference large portion of goods in stores today are imported from china, not saying the cars that are imported are from china.

Oh I see,but that does not really pertain to the discussion of muscle vs import cars... unless I am missing something.

Problem is there are very few truly "American made" cars anymore, a lot are made in Mexico or Canada. There seem to be more Japanese cars made in America than american cars, lol.

The Camry and I believe Tundra are both made right here in Indiana, about 3 hours SW of me... And the Civic is made about 45 minutes NE of me...
