I have some sort of small mushrooms.. they were doing fine until I started gettng red slime algae in the tank now the are pealing of the rocks one has already fallen off and fell. what should I do.. is there anything I can do?

I'm no expert, but I don't think red slime will cause your mushrooms to fall off. Is it growing directly on them?

check your phospates..

Yes, red slime is a bacteria really and it does release toxins into your water. Most likely they are just looking for cleaner pastures. You can usually deal with slime very effectivly by limiting feeding, reduction of lighting "just turn em off if you don't have inverts". I'd also guess that you quite likely have a dead spot in your water flow . You can check by putting a couple of drops of milk into your tank and seeing how it diffuses. You might also consider looking at your skimmer and seeing how effective it is. I woudn't advise chemicals as a long term solution as this does nothing to solve the issue .

depending on the size of your tank all those methods above are good. aiming to powerheads at eachother is another good method to creat turbulance. if there powerfull enough they will move the water every which direction. silicates and nitrates should be checked also and make sure your pH and Alk are balanced. unbalanced pH and Alk have been linked as factors in cyanobacteria growth. if you have a reef tank, refugiums, dsbs and 1.5-2 lbs of LR will help reduce the growth but not get rid of entirely.

What are your params are you showing phosphates? Also if you point a strong current at the shrooms you will soon have baby shrooms. They reproduce mostly by pedal laceration and as they move out the flow voila baby shrooms!

shrooms are pretty much mini anenomes so they have the ability to move if they want to. you really need to look at your nutrient import (Phosphates). you may need a better skimmer.
please post your tank stats, lighting, and skimmer type.

no they cant. and red slime does not release toxin but antioxidants. it just looks like crap and obsorbs nutrients.

shrooms can move, surely u were refering to something else. i have two or three that have climbed up my back glass to about half way up the tank.
