Must get more tanks.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I agree with the bigger Tanks. I don't really want anything smaller that 55s but I have a 10g and a 20g in my daughters rooms that I maintain for them. For them I will make an exception.
they have uses, I use them for hospital, fry - especially growing out fry I want to keep , sexing without visual cues, etc.....

Just save money and sell off some of your smaller tanks to get bigger ones.
If you are looking at new tanks, check out That Pet Place for their deals. They have some really good sales sometimes. I think you said it's far before, but in this case it would be worth the trip. Also Pet Smart seems to have a lot of sales and good deals too.
Or possibly trade w/ someone. I traded a 55g and 72g for my 150g. Sometimes you can find someone who is looking for smaller tanks.

I agree with cichlidfish, instead of lots small tanks, get bigger ones (I consider 6ft tanks minimum for cichlids) and put 3 or 4 on a sump.
I could do 100 gallons of water changes on 4 tanks at the same time, in a matter of just a couple moments with my semi-auto change system.
People are always getting rid of large tanks for pennies on the dollar. Most of mine were free (or just about) for the hauling
Just before I left for Panama, I had about 3000 gallons of tanks, and indoor ponds, in a tiny, less than 900 sq ft house. I even had tanks in the bathroom (that's where I put what I consider tiny tanks), like 55s because its the largest tank I could fit there, and were used as fry grow out tanks.

your local neighborhood drug dealer can solve your problem. Cheaper than fish

My wife is a therapist. She said I have a fish problem. She diagosed me w/ excessive impulsive disorder, ADD, and asbergers lol.
Going back to what Duane said, I found it's easier to maintain fewer larger tanks vs more smaller ones. A larger volume of water is always better for water quality. This can be one argument for tanks that are not only longer, but wider and taller.

Dude where do you have the time to maintain all these tanks? Do you have a fish room? Drip water change system? I have my hands full just taking care of a 180G with a 40G quarantine/hospital tank. Luckily I have a decent local aquarium as well as a few good LFS that I can go visit and watch their fish without actually maintaining them.

Do you have a Python water changer? If not you definitely need to get one. Makes the maintenance SOOO much easier. :) At one time I was running 17 tanks ranging from 10 gallons to 150. It took me about 4 hours per week to do the water changes on all of them, but I could play Xbox or watch TV while I was doing it because the majority of the time was spent simply draining and filling the tank. All I had to do was pause what I was doing when I needed to move the hose from one tank to the next. :)

Hi, I have something better :) After I gravel vac I used a 9000 litre/hr pump to pump the aquarium water outside into my irrigation system for my garden. then just fill it with a drinking hose with an aerator on top of it from my bathroom. takes max 1 hour (mainly from the filling), and I can watch TV.

You're lucky you have a therapist for a wife who recognizes your affliction as only a disease, mine just thought I was nuts and divorced me. Probably how I ended up sleeping with the fishes in Panama, and I'm fine with this disease.

Is that you dude?

My girlfriend loves fish so hopefully no issues arise one day

I had a co-worker who was a therapist who asked me about my hobbies. I told her about my fish. She said, "oh you're one of those" lol.
But honestly there are far worse things out there. I never bother my wife about her shoe or bag collections.
