To all members;

Here on MFK we have some very knowledgeable individuals and we have a handful of professionals who work in aquatic fields. We understand the fear and frustration that arises from receiving a diseased or injured fish, or from having a once healthy resident become afflicted with either. We also understand your urgency in finding a remedy to your crisis and being able to have a full recovery.
However, before you can expect to receive any form of quality advice, there are a few things you need to do when posting about a diseased or injured animal. The checklist below includes some basic requirements that should be included in any new post regarding disease/injuries. Remember, the more information you provide, the more information you will receive, and the sooner your animal can be on it's way to recovery.

POSTING ABOUT DISEASE or INJURIES:

* Include at least one clear and close-up picture of the infected area or injury

(No matter how skilled we are at identifying diseases or offering remedies for injuries, we are still not miracles workers, and so no matter how well you think you describe the situation, it may be interpreted completely different, or be of no help at all considering many different diseases can actually look quite similar to an untrained eye.This is why a picture is vital!)

* State the common and scientific name of your fish

* Include parameter results for at least the following;
- Ammonia
- Nitrites
- Nitrates
- PH
- Salinity
- Temperature

* Provide the above AND following information in your initial post so that vital information is not delayed by member's asking these questions in their replies:
- Size of tank this animal is currently housed in
- List of current residents that share this tank with sick/injured animal
- Regular Diet of this animal (frequency & food items)

*Think Hard* Have there been any new additions to this tank within the last month? This can include addition of new;
~Tank Makes
~Live Sand
~Live Rock
~Chemicals
~Foods (different items)
~Or any other change that has been made to the tank, it's interior, location, supplements, etc., etc. (Even if you think it would be totally unrelated, if it had to do with the tank or animals, list it)

By following these guidelines and including this information in your initial post, you will receive faster, more accurate and more detailed responses from members, and be able to assess the situation much faster.

Thank you for your cooperation!
