My 1,700 Outdoor Pond

I started digging on Oct. 1, 2011. Originally my mom wanted me to buy buckets so she can grow water lillies ... i pretty much convince her to just build a pond lol. We live up in the mountains, so i can't really dig that deep, after 2' it's pretty much just all head size rocks . I don't live with my parents, so i visit them only on saturday .. that's the only time i get a chance to dig / build the pond .. so it's gonna take some time

Originally i wanted to build a 10'x5'x3' pond .. but it turns out i made it a little bigger than expected ...

Its now 13'x7'x2.5'

This is my first pond .. not really sure what i need .. but with some research on MonsterFishKeepers and Google .. i think it turned out ok. Here are some pictures:

Session 3 & 4 [put in underlayment [7oz] and pond liner[45 mil EPDM]]

Right now .. it's still filling up .. i will update as soon as the pond fills up / day time comes

I also bought a SUPREME PONDMASTER PM-9.5 MAG DRIVE POND PUMP 950 GPH for my waterfall ...

Please give me a bit more advice / tips .. thank you so much !!!!

Will you have plants and what will the stock be?

What do you plan for filtration? The pond water should be turned one time per hour. You may need a UV sterilizer depending on what you stock or plant. Looks good so far.

Im planting to have water lillies in pots .. and will be putting them on both of the steps ... i want to have some kois since my area is very cold at night. I built the steps just for the plants ...

Sorry, i keep forgetting to update this .. but yeah .. finally added in plants and 11 koi
decided to put up a brick wall because my parents have 2 cocker spaniels who love to swim ..







I'm planning to put up some nets, and fill the whole left side of the pond and filter with water hyacinth for clearer water ...

I would like to add some water lilies or lotus .. but not sure if they can take the cold water .. and i also would like to build some kind of waterfall .. so that way i dont have to see the pcp pipes
