Hello fellow fish people. I thought I'd showcase my 1000g fish bar that I just recently finished building. I have been building plywood tanks for almost 10 years, but this is definitely the biggest I have done. It took many months as It was a solo build with the occasional help of my lovely wife ( and doggies) . Hope you enjoy

Dimensions are : 300cmx 190cm x 120cm ( L x W x H)
Sump 6'x3'x3', which is also a plywood build.

Stocking:
Ocellaris bass 16"
Vittatus tiger 16"
Hoplias curupira 14"
Florida gars x3 14-17"
Hydrolycus tatauaia 9"
Indo datnoid 6"
Oscars x2 12"
Silver dollars and bala sharks

I'm happy to say that there is absolutely 0 aggression, despite some of the larger predators being very much capable of hurting the dithers. I attribute this to keeping the tank very well fed and having lots of wood and pipes in the display. The fish have grown up together, many I have had since they were tadpole size . I do have the front part of the sump as a free tank if things change as the fish get bigger, namely the tigerfish.

Water is changed every week at around 40% . Nitrates and ammonia sitting at 0.

If there is interest in any specific fish I am happy to showcase them individually . I also took photos of the build process so if you would like to see them also , let me know.

Please enjoy 😉

Looks great mate. Well done!
Does the 1000g include sump volume or just the main tank?
If I remember confirm when I lived in Australia, volume = (LxWxH) divided by 1000 for liters, then divided by 3.8 for US gallons = 1800gal 🤔
Kinda confused me having foot measurements for sump and cm for hr main tank 😵‍💫🤗

Thank you for the kind words guys. The tank is over 1k gallons. According to online calculators , the whole system is around 1.5k gallons (uk gallons). Sorry for the metric/ imperial mix ups.

In terms of the nitrates, I just used a simple dip test and it's coming up with 0. I attribute this to the water changes. I can showcase the filtration too if there is interest. There is a separate prefilter tank for mechanical filtration then it drops into the bottom tank for biofiltration before returning to the display.

So the sump tank was my original plywood build I did a few years ago and it served as my growout. I built the bottom frame and put the tank inside and kept the fish in there with temporary filtration ( see the poly boxes) As i built the sump i put the fish into temporary holding and converted it. Then I built everything on top of it .

The build is made in panels and bolted together and sealed like a glass tank. The idea behind this is that if I ever have to move the tank I can cut the seams, undo the bolts and the panels will come apart.

I will keep this thread updated as time goes on. So far up and running a fewmonths
