Great tank, I love my 10g setup.
Yea me too. Its just the right point where you can do whatever you want, and it NEVER seems like too much work. You can put in a lot of time though on detail stuff and feel really satisfied with the big changes you can see. I like it alot, one of the reasons I am afraid to upgrade.

is what a clown loach i sees
Shh... I was hoping that wouldnt be noticed. Yes it is. Just fattening him up (you could see his ribs when I got him {not my choice, the petco lady chose him} so he is getting some snail time in the 10g. Already too aggressive with the other fish.)

Good job for someone so salty
Thanks mate, trust me, Im active both sides of the estuary as I like to say. Mainly active in the salt area because I thought that my expertise could best be put to use helping people there.

Where'd you get your driftwood? That piece looks awesome. My LFS tries to sell Zoo Med Mopani for $$$$$, and the other option is petsmart/petco, which sells the same stuff for cheaper in the reptile section. None of it looks decent as a centerpiece
Tharsis of plantedtank.net. Check out that websites "Swap & Shop" section...lots of people moving driftwood. I have gotten some from Lake Superior and Michigan, but sometimes you just run across a piece online that is great.

Very nice.
The floating plants add a really nice touch.
Thanks mate, looking forward to seeing your stuff when I come to LA! Start doing h2o changes!

Except for the algae growth on the sides of the tank it looks great.
Its really not as bad as it looks in the picture. I think its because the floaters make the light in the tank green...but I could probably scrape them. The reefer in me says not to scrape the back and sides of a tank.

very good job. I like it. being the owner of a 10g planted myself here are my 2cents...
2x 18 watt compact spiral fluorescents is a lot of light for the tank. by the color it looks like its the "soft white bulb" ideally you'd use the "daylight" which has a more blue/white light, thus supposedly would provide better wavelength range for the plants. I am using two 13watt daylight compact spirals and im very happy with the look.
the driftwood is begging to be put in some sort of diagonal way, where it is not parallel to the length of the tank. a diagonal line will give the tank a more dynamic look... trust me on this, its a proven method in visual art.
also I'd suggest putting some plants onto the driftwood, right underneath the light. something that is high-light demanding.
I like the floating plants. I miss mine. what type are those?
I am currently using 6500k bulbs. I cant really find anything more blue than that at the hardware stores. Also the pictures are coming through a little more greenish/yellowish than they are in real life. I will aim for some better pictures.
I agree with your point on the driftwood, unfortunately it is a little too large for that.
I am still considering hollowing out some of the driftwood to grow something more interesting up there, but havent really thought up what yet. Let me know if you think of something!
Those are the red root floaters. I have had great sucess with them. If you would like I will flat rate some to you, I do it all the time for people on planted tank.net

Thanks, really eager to see what you guys think when it is finished.
More pictures soon guys, hopefully we can get some of the inhabitants etc. Probably going to get some red cheery shrimp before I leave for LA.
My buddy is breeding them like crazy.
