Hello All,

My last thread got screwed up when I accidently deleted my photobucket album. =(

So here is a new thread with new pix and updates.

I will do a full write up with receipts, where to buy certain items, how to do some of the details I've done here, and maybe some diy videos of any steps that ppl have questions on.

By tomorrow I should have completed all the trim work on the stand and then onto completing the doors!

2 of the pix are scans of my original draft of what I wanted this to look like. And 2 other pix are of my granite and marble shop.

Thanks for looking! Questions or comments appreciated!

awesome job on the stand looks professional i plan on building a stand for my 200 gal im getting

Great work.

Nice! ...want to build my new stand...?

haha, maybe. fyi, an older fellow made an offer. i built a library for him many years ago and he knows my work. he's opening up a restaurant in miami. he ask me a price. i told him $6,000 for the stand. he asked if i could make the deadline for the opening.

it's a funny thing this hobby. i always have people walk through the back and ask me what i'm doing. oh a fish stand, what kind of fish, i remember when....that sort of stuff

my real job, running a granite fab shop, i did countertops for a younger single guy with a 3-5 year old boy. i did a follow up maybe 2 weeks ago. i walk up to his front door and he has a 5 gallon cooler with a battery hooked up; fizzlying quite loudly. i walk inside and he has a brand new fish tank.

nice tank, i say.
thanks, just got some brim, blue gill, and bass they're out there in the cooler, he replied.
LET ME SEE, i exclaimed.

so apparently this guy has the SPOT when it comes to some of florida's semi-native spawning locales.

long story short, i quoted him HIGH on the backsplash for his kitchen. called him two days later, took off $150 off the job and he'll catch me as many bass as i want and show me the spot.

cichla mon or tem. so stoked. :naughty::naughty::naughty:

ohh and i've narrowed down some color options.

let me preface the "opening to comments or suggestions regarding color" by saying that my overall goal of this project was to a) show off some of my woodworking abilities for my clients and b) for it to appear as antique like as possible.

so here are the options.

1) cream / cream-gray / cream-bone base
w/ heavy yet "controlled" sloppy brush strokes of a more off tone light blue.

2) black / steel base
w/ again heavy yet "controlled" sloppy brush strokes of a more off tone dark blue.

both options i would include some "french styled" scroll or curve, hand painted gold and burgundy enamel, in the corners of the recessed panel of the door. if that makes sense.

gold leafing is an option i have been toying with as well.

speaking of doors, i have never manufactured anything that i have loved more, personally, than these. manufacturing all the doors and panels for this would be somewhere in the 12 hour range? if i were to do these as "one off" they would take atleast 3 hours, not including any prep work, painting, etc.....

i've never done a kitchen with less than 100 doors and drawer faces. and lets say i've built idk 40-50 different door styles, each with unique details. crazy.

so mad for not bringing my camera to work with me today. will post pics early early tomorrow morning. :headbang2

so excited to complete this with a full write up. everything can be purchased at home depot so there's no specialty supplies required.

more will be revealed.
