ive got a 125 cycling right now. what is the most single aggressive fish i can put in it. i figured either a jag or some rtm's, maybe one of each. id like a parachromis species of some kind.

It depends. If you want a glass banger, I wouldn't go with a jag or a mota actually, I'd go with something along the lines of a Midas. The jags are predatory and very aggressive towards other fish, there are plenty that are glass bangers but I would say that you'd have a much better chance with the Midas or anything amphilophus for that matter. Obviously there are umbee, dovii, haitensis, etc etc but those will all outgrow a 125 eventually.

I vote for an amphilophus as well. My midas is kind of a teddy bear as far as glass banging. But a trimac or sagittae is likely to be more what you're looking for behavior wise

ive already got a red devil tank. i want something mean and big.

Well, that's kind of restricting because you only have a 125.Like I said earlier that won't suffice a whole life for a dovii, umbee, or anything that large

When you say mean, you mean towards other fish? or towards you? Most parachromis will be mean to other fish but kind of just float around and ignore you. If you want a fish that looks like it's trying to kill you, i'd agree amphilophus is the way to go. Trimacs are pretty awesome, and istlanum is one of my favorites. Some of the Vieja's are also pretty great in that regard- zonatus, argentae, guttalatum to name a few. If I wanted a large single fish for a 125 I would probably go vieja.

not a central american but Buttikefori are beast, if you really like parachromis try to get a Grammodes Pair-they are like mini dovii

I must be doing something wrong (or correct) as I have had TONS of amphilophus and parachromis and I have never really had a glass banger - interactive, yes - but no glass banger. If you want Parachromis, I'd go jag - have never had one of them not be interactive. My RTMs have been a great disappointment - beautiful, but I have to sneak in the room and stay at a distance or they hide right away.
