do you think the trimec could be housed with a couple severums. where would i go about finding a trimec, tangled up in cichlids my only bet.

Probably short term, but not for life (by life I mean the Trimacs life... you're pretty much assured it's a life sentence for the Severums)

Yeah Trimac is going to probably have to be a wetpet in a 125, if you were to try anything, definitely not severums. They wouldn't be able to defend themselves and get big enough to actually be considered a threat to the trimac. I would recommend no tankmates, if you really wanted to try something, a mean pair of convicts *might* work. but keep an eye, divider, etc.

I have heard lots about flowerhorn personality. The only cichlid I have kept is a sal and those things are nasty to anything and everything

When you say mean, you mean towards other fish? or towards you? Most parachromis will be mean to other fish but kind of just float around and ignore you. If you want a fish that looks like it's trying to kill you, i'd agree amphilophus is the way to go. Trimacs are pretty awesome, and istlanum is one of my favorites. Some of the Vieja's are also pretty great in that regard- zonatus, argentae, guttalatum to name a few. If I wanted a large single fish for a 125 I would probably go vieja.

I have an Argentea growing out in a 75 now. Beautiful fish, great size, plenty of personality

im turning it into a community tank. being that i have several rotkeils in a growout that need a new home, and several salvini, 2 will stay in there own tank, ill keep one for the 125 and get rid of the others. im mite pick up an oscar. so 2 rotkeil severums, 1 salvini, and an oscar. ive never kept an oscar because they kind of bored me with how common they are, so if you guys know of anything other then an oscar that would be compatible with those 3 cichlids, lemme know.
