I dont want to be the bearer of bad news, but your not supposed to make those top cross braces so close to the top. They should not support the bottom of the tank. The reason being, the wood may warp some over the years and make it uneven, eventually cracking your glass.

Heres the one I just finished yesterday.

I disagree. Since it is a typical plastic framed tank, there is a gap between the seating surface, and the actual floating glass bottom. The cross members will never touch any part of the tank. His stand is fine the way it is.

hey guys, i keep hearing top heavy, or not wide enough for the height, do you think those factors are gonna be a problem for me? the stand feels stable and its perfectly square it doesnt rock or shake. just need some reassurance thanks guys.

The stand looks plenty strong to me.. Just look at MDF stands the LFS sells, and tell me your real wood construction stand is not stronger.. best of luck

Being you are on tile it will be fine, unless you play football in the house :nilly:

Great work, love the oriental flavor.

Looks pretty stable, but if you really want to get some extra reassurance you could always attach it to the wall.

your first stand looks alot better than mine! Is there a reason you didnt add additional support beams in the middle of the stand?
