My 1400 gallon cichlid tank.

Thanks all for the kind words. I'm loving this setup and the stock gets more and more settled in and mellow with each other by the day. You get all the behavior you love to see, and so far the negatives have all but disappeared. There still is occasional flares and short chases for a few feet but with so much room to get away anything that need to get out of the road can and the problem is averted. Hope I can help keep it like this for years to come.

Love it man, very clean looking build! It's amazing how these typically very aggressive species seem to mellow out that much when placed in a big enough tank.

Thanks man. The tank will just keep getting better as I get the scape worked out and get the outside finished. For now though I'm content to just enjoy. Here my view most nights.Beats the heck out of tv.ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1380167976.110752.jpg

Nice fish and tank.

Did you ever think of just putting that nice Umbee pair you have in that tank alone?

Oh certainly. And maybe down the road it still will be. After I added the stock if he didn't cool his jets I would have pulled everything but them and been more than happy. I wanted to see what I could get away with though. I have been doing this long enough that I know what the signs are and have always felt that umbees would work long term in a community set up given enough space as long as they aren't challenged. He is quick to shun any flares in the tank and actually keeps the peace. My Gorrilus blue male I feel will become a problem as times goes on so it likely won't be in there long. He is far too brazen and still flares at big blue when the lights come on and I'm afraid that may end badly one day. I likely will pull him on water change day( if I can catch him, without a rod and reel;) just to be safe. I've got a little time before then though so we will see it's only been several days and he is use to being king of the tank which he is not here. But suprisingly my biggest trouble maker is... the datnoid. His an aggressive little bugger! The trimacs bicker a lot between each other as they are all nearly the same size but all just bluff. It will change and evolve with time, that's what makes this hobby great. The aggression level is very low now and everything seems more than happy.
