my 1400 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well to give yall an update I have been scrounging still to get at least half to the money for the windows (its been hard since I have been laid off)

but I have been trying to figure out how to go about the filtration size what type etc any ideas from any who has built an aquarium this size ???
if ya look at the previous pics there is a small closet right behind the tank that is where all the plumping etc is goin to be

Well my little 600 doesnt compare to yours, but I can tell you I absoluetly love my fluval fx5. Two or three would probably be ok for you. Mines built on the floor also, and I didnt want to mess with a sump.

I like your idea for a bio-tower above the tank..

The library here has a 1200g tank two sumps (50g each) with Mech & Bio, then 2 (eheims i think) in line after the sumps.. not sure the size of the canisters, but the canister pumps are the return pumps..

There is an overflow on each end, and power heads to limit dead spots....
The team that (used to) care for it did a great job, services it weekly did about 400g/week WC.. The new service company.. not so good. It is amazing how much better a tank does when people who care tend to it...

Good luck with this project, hope work (paid) picks up soon....

Just make sure that the acrylic is treated because not all acrylic is made for aquarium use

The question you want to ask is whether the material is cell cast or extruded. Extruded is not as clear and not as strong as Cell Cast. Of course, cell cast is consequently more expensive.
